Our Story

Why we started — and why it still matters

Digital Kids Foundation began its work in 2024 with a belief that every child deserves access to technology and the opportunity to learn. Our early laptop donations took place under the Digital Kids Foundation name before our formal incorporation as a New York nonprofit on October 3, 2025.

During 2024–2025, Digital Kids Foundation distributed 12 laptops to students in Ghana and Brooklyn, New York. With the generous support of NYC Seminar and Conference Center, 10 refurbished Dell laptops were donated to underserved children in Ghana. We also donated two laptops to students in Brooklyn.

These early efforts inspire our continued mission: to connect underserved children with computers, digital literacy, and educational opportunities.

1 in 3 low-income students lacks reliable computer access at home. Without it, homework, college prep, and job applications become nearly impossible.

50 million metric tons of electronics are discarded globally each year. Refurbishing extends device life and keeps toxic materials out of landfills.

Who We Serve

Every child deserves a fair start

We partner with organizations serving children who face the biggest barriers to technology access.

Schools

We supply devices to under-resourced public schools, prioritizing districts where more than 70% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

Foster Youth

Children in foster care move frequently and often lose educational continuity. A personal device can be a constant — something that's theirs, wherever they go.

Immigrant Families

Newly arrived families often lack resources to purchase technology. We work with ESL programs and immigration services to reach these families.

Community Centers

After-school programs, youth shelters, and libraries receive devices to extend learning opportunities beyond the school day.

About DKF

Digital Kids Foundation is a New York nonprofit working to expand access to technology and digital learning for underserved children.
We are building our donation, refurbishment, volunteer, and educational programs. We have not yet received or distributed donated laptops. We will share verified milestones as our work progresses.
Our organization is based in New York. Our mission includes supporting children in the United States and Ghana through volunteers and community partnerships.
Digital Kids Foundation was incorporated as a New York nonprofit in October 2025. We have submitted an application for federal 501(c)(3) recognition, and approval is pending. Please contact us for the latest status and consult a tax professional about deductibility.

Device Donations

Yes. We welcome inquiries about donating usable laptops and related accessories. Please contact us with the device model, condition, and approximate age so we can confirm suitability and arrange next steps.
Working laptops and Chromebooks with compatible chargers are especially useful for our mission. For tablets, desktops, damaged devices, or larger batches, please ask before arranging a donation.
Back up your files, sign out of accounts, and securely erase personal information before donating. We are developing our device-handling procedures and cannot currently promise certified erasure or provide data-destruction certificates.
Pickup, shipping, and drop-off arrangements are not yet established as a standard service. Contact our team before sending or transporting any equipment.

Giving & Transparency

Please use our donation or contact page to ask about current ways to support the foundation. Availability of payment options may change as our fundraising systems are established.
Potential expenses include laptop repairs, replacement parts, logistics, digital literacy materials, and program operations. Specific costs vary; we do not publish fixed per-device impact amounts without verified program data.
Our federal 501(c)(3) application is pending. We cannot guarantee that a contribution is tax-deductible. Please check our latest status and consult your tax adviser.
We plan to publish transparent updates as donations, refurbishments, distributions, and workshops take place. We will distinguish planned activities from completed results.
